The day long-jaunt that is Camden Rocks returns for another year this Saturday (June 4th) with 200 plus bands playing across 20 Camden Town venues. With the full running order now announced, we look at some of the acts that take our eye.
Topping the bill this year are The Cribs (Electric Ballroom 9.15pm). One of the few remaining bands from the mid 00’s to still be thriving. The Jarman brothers will be dipping into their extensive back catalogue of six LP’s (and counting) to give Camden Rocks a deserving finale.
Macclesfield trio The Virgin Marys (Barfly 7pm) were only in Camden last-month when they played two sold-out shows at the Black Heart in support of their new LP ‘Divides’. If you weren’t lucky enough to catch them then, there’s no excuse this time. A riotous show is on the cards.
Billy Bragg (Proud 5.15pm) Proud will most likely be packed out well before the advertised stage-time for iconic singer-songwriter and activist Billy Bragg. Expect to hear Billy’s thoughts on the referendum and a rousing rendition of ‘New England’.
Carl Barat And The Jackals (Electric Ballroom 7.45pm) The Libertines front-man returns to his spiritual home on Saturday night with The Jackals. As-well as tracks from their debut LP ‘Let It Reign’, there’s the possibility a couple of old Dirty Pretty Things / Libertines will be dropped in too.
Its going to be loud, its going to be fuzzy, and its going to be nay-on melodic. That’s pretty much a guarantee when catching a YUCK show. The London scuzz-enthusiasts will play Barfly at 8.15pm.
