‘Whenever’ marks our first introduction into the woozy world of Bournemouth five-piece The Death of Pop and they bring a softer side to the psych-genre.
Kicking off with a chorus of free-flowing “Ooohhs” which litter the hook-heavy track. ‘Whenever’ mixes conventional pop with 90’s inspired shoegaze. The tracks dual-guitar lines kick back with reverberating chord changes, while the lead-vocals in contrast to it’s harmonic backing feels darker and more distorted… All in all ‘Whenever’ as a-bit of everything and is 3 minutes of psych-pop at its finest.
‘Whenever’ is taken from The Death of Pops upcoming EP ‘Fifths’. Due out on July 28 via Art is Hard Records on flexidisc and zine.
