Live Review: Darlia @ Barfly 30.01.14

You wouldn’t have thought this was the first headline show in the capital for Darlia as the Blackpool three-piece shuck the upstairs of Camden’s Barfly with their Nirvana-esc grunge rock. The lads know their job and after walking on stage to a rendition of Dick Dale’s ‘Misirlou’ the band flew through a short and sweet 30 minute set to the sold-out and sometimes distracted crowd.

The chord heavy ‘Napalm’ and vocally-catchy ‘Choke on Bones’ both taken from their recently released ‘Knock Knock’ EP came in for a few head-bobs in the crowd but the lads definitely warranted more as their fast-paced set drew to a close; ending with the churning ‘Queen of Hearts’ and as the last scraps of reverb rang out from the amps, a shirtless reveller made his way onto the stage and that as they say was that.
