Tonight’s a pretty big night for Shy Nature in the grand scheme of things. Their self-titled debut EP is officially launched and they’ve the added pressure of having some familiar faces to them dotted around the front of Fiddlers Elbow. But as they rolled through their eight-song set which saw them back in a ‘live’ environment for the first time since their last show at Old Blue Last earlier in the year and whatever nerves they had were quickly diminished as the band stayed tight and on key (apart from one slip-up).
The four-track Shy Nature EP was obviously very much to the fore before finishing the night with their triumphant debut single ‘Deadly Sin’ that left myself and hopefully a few other people in the room with a genuine feeling that we were watching the beginning of something potentially pretty-special.
I try not to get over excited by new bands till there’s a sniff of an LP on the horizon… BUT on the evidence I’ve seen of Shy Nature I need to make an exception.
