Anybody who takes inspiration from the likes of Patti Smith, Iggy Pop and The Velvet Underground has me in their pocket immediately (before spinning a track) But after being persuasively nudged in the direction of 19 year old Misty Miller for a while now, I listened to her upcoming EP ‘Next to You’ and became an immediate fan (and pretty pissed I didn’t make her Lexington show a few weeks back).
The most impressive thing about ‘Next to You’ is the diversity in sound she creates over course of the EP from the Punk-tinged Anything for You’ you have the beautifully crafted n melodic self-titled ‘Next to You’ through to the gentle acoustic led tracks of ‘Wait’ and ‘Tea in China’, the whole EP show’s Misty Miller to be a precocious talent.
Misty Miller has been knocking on the door for a while now (she’s been releasing music since the tender age of 16) but it seems her star is very much on the rise now, she recently completed support slots with Jake Bugg and Tom Odell, as-well as garnering mainstream radio airplay from the likes of Radio 1’s Zane Lowe and Rob da Bank
Misty Millers second EP ‘Next to You’ is released this coming weekend (June 2nd) Listen to the whole EP below:
